We are currently seeking a Civil Construction Labourer  to join our operations in a seasonal (May to September), full-time position in Sudbury, Ontario and surrounding region. 

The Civil Construction Labourer is involved in all facets of outside plant construction.  The role supports the installation of underground and above-ground telecommunications network systems by digging trenches, placing conduits, and assisting with cable placement. They also help with site preparation, equipment operation, and restoring work areas to ensure safe and efficient project completion.

The work will be performed in the Sudbury and surrounding region.  No overnight travel is required.   Must be able to work 40 hours per week, and must have a valid driver’s license and reasonable driver’s abstract.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Shoveling; 
  • Pulling conduit;
  • Pulling Cables; 
  • Pick Axing;
  • Learning drawings;
  • Assisting the Operators; 
  • Assisting the leads with GLB placements; 
  • General landscaping duties; 
  • Assisting all MDU work as required;
  • Assisting Lineman as required;
  • Manhole attendee as required;
  • Complete E-Timesheets and Per diem requests;
  • Know and follow all safety protocols established by provincial governments, industry and VistaCare.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Physically cable of lifting, pushing, pulling, working outdoors in all weather; working around equipment; construction sites.
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to work very well within a team or independently when required;
  • An interest in working in the field environment;
  • Ability to walk extended periods of time on varying terrains;
  • Willingness to carry equipment into and out of the field;
  • Flexibility with schedule;
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills;
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license (preference given to DZ and above / DZ with airbrakes an asset)  
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required;
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check.
Experience Required
  • Civil / construction labour experience (telecommunications environment experience is an asset)
  • Technical training or lineman training is considered an asset;
Compensation and Benefits
  • The hourly wage for this position ranges between $20.00/hr. - $30.00/hr., depending on experience, skills and qualifications.
