We are currently seeking a Fleet Maintenance Specialist to join our operations in a permanentfull-time position in Canada to service our fleet vehicles and heavy equipment in Canada and the United States. Take the wheel and keep our aerial line trucks, splicing labs, loaders, and fleet of company vehicles running at peak performance so that our crews can power through every job with confidence.  Be the driving force behind reliability—diagnosing issues, performing hands-on repairs, and work hard to develop and execute a preventative maintenance plan that keeps downtime low and productivity high.   Own the schedule and the standards, ensuring every vehicle is safe, road-ready, and that mission-critical operations never skip a beat.

As a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to travel to our different field locations. While on the road, we prioritize your comfort by providing a generous daily per diem and comfortable accommodations arranged and paid for by the company.

This role requires a self-motivated, licensed mechanic with a willingness to travel, work a minimum of 40 hours per week, and who brings strong mechanical expertise. Experience with hydraulic lifts, along with a valid driver’s license and a reasonable driver’s abstract is essential. This role requires constant collaboration and communication with stakeholders.  This role has the potential to develop into a more strategic role with expanded oversight, aligned with anticipated growth of the Company’s fleet operations .

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Your primary responsibility will be to personally perform and oversee the physical maintenance, repair, and servicing of all company vehicles operating in the United States and Canada. This role requires regular travel as necessary to perform maintenance and repairs at our various Company locations;
  • Provide hands-on subject-matter expertise related to fleet maintenance, inspections, and vehicle uptime, safety, and cost control;
  • Train and support field crews on proper vehicle inspection procedures, defect identification, documentation standards, and maintenance best practices;
  • Conduct periodic field audits and inspections to verify maintenance compliance, inspection quality, and adherence to company standards;
  • Serve as a technical resource to field teams, mechanics, and operations regarding maintenance issues, repair recommendations, and vehicle condition;
  • Identify recurring maintenance issues or emerging risks and recommend corrective or preventative actions; 
  • Collaborate with the Fleet & Assets manager and other stakeholders to align maintenance practices with organizational goals and regulatory requirements;
  • Support the evaluation of maintenance vendors, repair quality, and warranty issues as required
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of fleet maintenance procedures, inspection checklists, and training materials;
  • Monitor maintenance data, inspection reports, and service records to identify trends and improvement opportunities;
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and environmental standards;
  • Travel to field locations as required to support fleet maintenance activities, training, and inspections;
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, organized, and a team player
  • Working knowledge of CSA inspection standards
  • Familiarity with ANSI and OSHA regulations for equipment inspection, repair, and condition standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and isolated environments
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including:
    • Lifting and carrying heavy equipment (e.g.cable reels)
    • Climbing and working from ladders if needed
  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brakes (required)
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as needed
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
  • ANSI certifications considered an asset
Experience Required
  • Certificate of Qualification as Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician / Off-Road Mechanic, or 5+ years of equivalent experience servicing heavy equipment
  • Proven experience with:
    • Hydraulic systems troubleshooting
    • Diesel engines and powertrain repair
    • Heavy equipment and/or hydraulic bucket trucks
  • Basic welding and fabrication experience
Compensation and Benefits
  • The hourly wage for this position ranges between $50.00/hr - $60.00/hr, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications
  • Compensation is paid weekly
